The Rainbow Bridge

Where Pets Go When They Pass Away

Will Rogers once said: “If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.” Those with similar trepidations will be comforted by this charming tale about a boy and his dog.

Young Rick and his dog Max are inseparable. They play “pooligators” in the swimming hole, race through the yard, play fetch and wrestle. Then Max grows old – his health slowly declines and he passes away.

The boy is devastated. Silence and loneliness loom. Then Buster, a flatulent but well-intentioned messenger dog appears at Rick's bedside one night and flies Rick to the Rainbow Bridge.

Here Rick joins Max who shows him a paradise for pets. Fields of catnip abound. No couch is off-limits. Frisbees sail eternally. In this playground sanctuary, deceased pets frolic happily while waiting to be united with their human companions.

Adrian Raeside spins a hopeful and comic tale about the love that keeps humans and their pets connected. His marvelous illustrations are replete with gentle humour. This sensitive story captures the heartbreak of loss while offering a hopeful vision about acceptance and new adventures. The Rainbow Bridge will not only resonate with children but with pet-lovers of all ages.
